Frequently Asked Questions
-
I currently offer individual psychotherapy services for adults age 18 and older via telehealth.
-
Getting started is simple. Reach out through my contact form to schedule a free 20 minute consultation call—this will allow you to share about the support you are seeking in therapy, ask any questions you may have for me, and for both of us to assess if it’s a good fit to work together.
If it’s your first time in therapy, see the Services page for an overview of what the process of therapy looks like.

I believe healing happens within the context of our relationships, culture, communities, and lived experiences—not in isolation. Rather than focusing only on symptom reduction, I help clients understand the deeper patterns that shape how they relate to themselves and others, while offering practical tools for meaningful change. My approach is relational, culturally responsive, and tailored to each individual, creating a space where you don't have to spend half your session explaining the cultural or familial context behind your experiences.
-
Not at all. While I specialize in supporting South Asian adults and first- and second-generation immigrants, I welcome clients from all backgrounds. Many people are drawn to my practice because they want a therapist who understands the ways culture, family, identity, and broader systems shape our experiences. Whether or not we share the same cultural background, my goal is to create a space where all parts of your identity are welcomed and understood.
-
Absolutely. Many of my clients are navigating the tension between honoring their families and cultures while also creating lives that feel authentic to them. These experiences can bring up guilt, anxiety, perfectionism, conflict, or a sense of feeling caught between different worlds. Therapy offers a space to explore these challenges with curiosity and compassion—not to tell you what choices to make, but to help you make decisions that align with your values and the life you want to build.
-
Rather than giving advice or telling you what decisions to make, I see therapy as a collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you better understand yourself, identify patterns, consider new perspectives, and navigate difficult decisions with greater clarity and confidence. My hope is that therapy helps you build trust in yourself—not become dependent on me for answers.
-
Both. Some sessions may focus on processing emotions, exploring relationships, or making sense of long-standing patterns. Other sessions may include practical tools, psychoeducation, or strategies you can use in your daily life. I tailor therapy to your goals and needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Many clients appreciate having both a space for deeper reflection and practical support they can apply outside of session.
-
No. Therapy with me is not about telling you what your relationships should look like. Family relationships—especially within collectivist cultures—are often deeply complex and meaningful. Together, we'll explore your experiences, identify what's working and what isn't, and help you make thoughtful decisions that align with your values, wellbeing, and goals. Whether that means strengthening relationships, setting healthier boundaries, or navigating difficult dynamics, we'll approach those decisions together with care and nuance.
-
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or ready to better understand patterns they've carried for years. You don't have to wait until things become unbearable. Therapy can be a place to deepen self-understanding, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful change before you reach a breaking point.
-
That's completely okay. You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Many clients come to their first session simply knowing that something doesn't feel quite right or that they're ready for things to feel different. We'll work together to understand what's bringing you in, clarify your goals, and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
